OZCHILD STATEMENT ON THE NATIONAL REDRESS SCHEME
In July 2018 the government introduced the National Redress Scheme in response to recommendations by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Scheme started on 1 July 2018 and will run for 10 years.
OzChild welcomes the scheme and recognises the help it will provide to people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse to gain access to compensation, along with counselling and psychological services.
OzChild is currently working through the process of entry into the Scheme. We have been advised the process can take 3-6 months, seeing us join the scheme towards the end of the 2019 calendar year.
